Just in Time…

My three choices for writing spaces must be the word processor, emails, and pen and paper. Pen and paper or mechanical writing is where my creativity is. Notes come alive when arrows and pictures are added in. I sill do long math on paper most of the time to better understand the numbers. I also put use this in my writing. When writing I use a word processor. For editing I can now use that pen and paper to eliminate mistakes and create a new polished paper. The final writing space is emails. Emails are becoming a growing form of communication for most people. The email gives the sender and receiver a good templet to create and demonstrate all the their ideas in a efficient way.
I also feel that the word processor and the handwriting are good to compare. The word processor has talents like speed and accuracy that handwriting could never match. The feeling of creativity is lost when typing the same looking letter on the same lines. I choose to word process important document without proof reading until I can put a pen to it. This has become a good style for me in my writing as of lately.

Writing Spaces & Remediation

The three writing spaces which are most notable in my life are mechanical writing, word processors, and writings on websites/message boards.  Mechanical writing is where it all began for me and remained for many years of my life.  Not until sophomore year of high school did I have a computer so I’ve grown accustomed to mechanical writing.  There seems to be a greater flow from one’s mind to final work when written mechanically.  Word processors are still somewhat new to me.  They do however generate a greater ease for the writer.  The entirety of information one could hope for when crafting an intelligent work is readily available on a word processor.  It’s easy to find definitions, replace words, find correct spelling/punctuation, and so forth.  Websites and message boards also create an ease for the writer.  However, whereas a word processor allows for ease of crafting one’s thoughts intelligently, websites/message boards allow ease for the writer to just post one’s thoughts without the hassle or worry of how correct it may be.

I believe that the word processor is on its way to remediating the mechanical writing style of yesteryear; however, it still has much to accomplish.  It allows for one to write his or her thoughts with constant guidance and ease.  A mistake can quickly be found and corrected and from this correction the writer begins to learn what needs to be done to avoid such mistake again.  Nevertheless, I still believe that mechanical writing still involves something that I don’t believe a writer can get from a word processor, at least not yet.  From a personal point of view, I still find mechanical writing to be the best way to vocalize (or in this case publish) one’s thoughts.  As I already said, I feel there’s a certain flow to mechanical writing.  Until recently I had always mechanically written something and then typed up what had been written.  I am so used to the mechanical style that I am slowly learning to use the word processor as a primary space of writing.  It is something of a transition for me; however, many children are now growing up with computers in front of them, finding it easier and easier to write digitally as opposed to mechanically.  With time I see the word processor being the general primary space of writing for a majority of people.
