Worst Blog…Ever

For a class I had just recently read Scott McLoud’s article, “Understanding Comics:  The Invisible Art.”  First and foremost I must point out that it’s not a typical read.  It’s an article written about how comics are important to our social understandings, only done in comic form.  There was so much information present, here.  The choice of a comic layout helped to allow for better understanding of the subject matter.  The whole piece goes on to explain how we are generally an icon based society.  Most of our information input is done from icons and cartoons found all around us at all times.  The use of icons and cartoons allow for a large understanding since many people can associate more with a crude picture than the written word or a highly detailed image.  This is something that I’ve always known, but I suppose never realized.  The simpler the image, the more involved the viewer will be toward that image.  This article proves itself by its own layout.  The comic form of it allows for an easier comprehension of the subject of understanding simple cartoons.  It is a well written and well illustrated piece that has made me think some more about cartoons in general.  This is one article I’ll be sure to store considering how interesting it makes something as childish as comics seem like it’s constantly evolving and teaching people….I suppose it’s not just kid stuff.
